Bronze Country Boy:  A adult contemporary novel.

     It’s 1991 and Matthew Foster finds himself standing on the block, lane eight, in the final of the 100 metres freestyle at the Australian trials for the Barcelona Olympics.  He’s up against national and international swimming stars, his heart is racing.  In lest than a minute dreams are created and shattered, emotions are lifted and crushed.  He’s afraid of failure, scared of success, but he hopes to make his family and friends proud of him.

 

     Jessie Brock a young, poor aboriginal boy, who strives to become a man, must fight against racial tension and ingrained cultural attitudes, to find his own self-worth.  His love for his high school sweet heart, gives him hope and happiness, but playing football provides him with a freedom and a future.

 

     Both guys come from a small country town in Queensland; their lives and their friendship take us on an emotionally woven journey that must deal with love, tragedy and success.
